My name is Dan Hinson and for those of you who don't know me, I am a friend of Matt and Donna, and Scott and Mary Fairfield, and we need your help.  Our friends Matt and Donna Logan (along with their 3 daughters Lindsey, Samantha and Madison) are fighting the fight of the lives. Matt and Donna, both teachers, are special people who have chosen to place the needs of children, young adults and their friends above their own.

As an example: a few years ago I called the Logan home where a young man greeted me. Later I learned that his family abandoned this young man towards the end of his senior year. Well you guessed it the Logan’s took him in. Matt helped him with school while Donna chauffeured him to and from work. Today that young man is looking forward to a promising future after graduating from college. This is not an uncommon thing at the Logan home. Whether its staying late to help a student, finding a scholarship for someone who would not otherwise be able to attend college or opening their home to a friend, the Logan’s have been there.

Approximately 3 years ago Donna was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. While Donna underwent several surgeries and treatments, she kept teaching. All the while the caring and giving attitude never changed at the Logan home. During this past holiday season, to our surprise as well as everyone else we spoke with, Royce Ann and I learned that Donna has been very ill. We also discovered that Donna would not be returning to work, the doctors want her to get plenty of rest while taken the new medication, there is still hope Donna can beat this.

While there is still hope the Logan’s need our help; its time to give back. Teachers don’t pay into state disability; therefore Donna will not receive any money while she is out of work. The combination of expensive medications (that are not covered by insurance) along with doctor’s bills of the past 3 years has put a strain on the Logan household.

Since the Logan’s would never ask for help, myself and other friends are asking for them. For many of us the last several years have been rewarding, and we are fortunate that we can afford a charitable contribution. Thanks to Scott and Mary Fairfield (other friends of Matt and Donna) the following non-profit foundation (tax deductible) has been established:
